Product Overview of 2-Position 3-Way Solenoid Valves
2-Position 3-Way Solenoid Valves (also known as 3-port solenoid valves) feature three ports, including one inlet and two outlets (or two inlets and one outlet). When one outlet is open, the other is closed. They are available in Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) types:
NO type: The valve remains open when de-energized (at rest).
NC type: The valve remains closed when de-energized (at rest).
Equipped with a universal (U) function, the valve can be installed as either NO or NC according to pipeline application requirements. Imported 2-position 3-way solenoid valves are used to vent or divert fluids during processes, with the most common application being to control or switch air flow. They can connect to one or two selected ports, or divert flow from one port to another.
These solenoid valves are available in various sizes, pressure ratings, and voltage options, including models made of stainless steel. Special materials and custom voltage ratings can be provided upon request.
Working Principle of 2-Position 3-Way Solenoid Valves
The valve operates based on three functional configurations, with port numbering (Port 1/2/3) as specified below:
1. One Inlet & One Outlet (Directional Control Type)
NC type (Model TM2/3):
When the coil is energized: Port 2 connects to Port 1; Port 3 is closed.
When the coil is de-energized: Port 2 is closed; Port 1 connects to Port 3.
NO type (Model TM2/3K):
When the coil is de-energized: Port 3 connects to Port 1; Port 2 is closed.
When the coil is energized: Port 3 is closed; Port 1 connects to Port 2.
2. One Inlet & Two Outlets (Flow Splitting Type, Model TM2/31)
When the coil is energized: Outlet Port 2 opens; Outlet Port 3 closes.
When the coil is de-energized: Outlet Port 2 closes; Outlet Port 3 opens.
3. Two Inlets & One Outlet (Mixed Type, Model TM2/32)
When the coil is energized: Inlet Port 2 opens; Inlet Port 3 closes.
When the coil is de-energized: Inlet Port 2 closes; Inlet Port 3 opens.
